It's the story that won't go away. Just when the webcomic world was starting to forget all about
the David Kelly/Todd Goldman bru-ha-ha,
along comes Todd's lawyer to
stir up some more publicity.
A number of websites which reported on this issue have been sent cease and desist letters.
It's claimed in the letters that legal action will be taken if the
"defaming, derogatory and malicious statements about Mr. Goldman"
are not removed from the web at once. As you could probably predict, this has led to
mirror sites of this material
springing up all over the place.
Is sending out a C+D letter really a smart move? I'm not a multi-millionaire plagarist so I wouldn't be
able to say. If the idea was to get this dying issue back on the webcomic radar, then it's succeeded
beautifully. On the other hand, if it was an honest attempt to salvage Todd's reputation,
one has to wonder if they
understand how PR works.
