I rewrote this particular scene many, many times. It has to walk a very fine
line between serious and absurd. Too much in one direction and the story could
become a victim play, too much in the other and it could be a Benny Hill sketch.
You could say that
this story was inspired by the YouTube generation.
We live in an age when everything gets posted to the internet.
That stupid thing you did twenty minutes ago could now be entertaining university students
in China. Camera phones and photo blogs let anyone play paparazzi. I wonder how our notion
of personal privacy is going to change in response to all this technology.
